Do I need my own 3D printer?
No. You are buying a print-ready file. Print it on any FDM printer you have access to — home, a friend's, a library or makerspace — or upload it to an online 3D-printing service such as Craftcloud or Shapeways. The configurator has a print-service option that sizes the plate for typical service machines.
What exactly do I get for $5?
A print-ready STL, or a two-body 3MF with materials pre-assigned for AMS/MMU printers, generated for your exact address, template, size and printer, plus printing instructions and a mounting guide. It is emailed right after checkout with a download link as backup.
How long does a house number sign take to print?
A typical nameplate is an afternoon print — two to five hours at 0.2 mm layers, longer for the largest sizes — and uses roughly 50–150 g of filament, about $1–4 of PLA. No supports are needed.
How do I print it in two colors?
On any single-nozzle printer the file is built for one clean filament swap: pause at the stated layer height (8 mm on a standard plate), switch color, resume. On multi-material systems (Bambu AMS, Prusa MMU) choose the 3MF at checkout — the two bodies come with filament slots already assigned. Or print one color and paint the raised details.
Which filament should I use outdoors?
PETG or ASA for a sign in direct sun; PLA is fine under a porch or in shade and is the easiest to print. Matte and silk PLA both read well; use a dark base and a light or metallic raised color for contrast at a distance.
How does it mount to the wall?
Keyhole slots are recessed into the back — the plate hangs on two ordinary screws. Screw spacing is stated in exact millimetres and inches, and the included guide has a hardware table for brick, siding, wood and stucco.
What if the file doesn't fit or won't print?
Every mesh is verified watertight and manifold before delivery, and sizes are derived from your printer's actual bed. If a file fails those guarantees or doesn't match your configuration we regenerate it or refund you.
Can I share or resell the file?
Files are licensed for personal use — print as many copies as you like for yourself, but the file itself can't be redistributed or resold.
